A Fairy cleaning her home in the late afternoon. A piece done for the back cover of a children's book!
Software Used:
- Adobe Photoshop (Digital Painting)
Process:
- It all started with a sketch! I did this directly in Photoshop with my favorite pencil brush.

- Afterwards I block out the local colors, this time I decided to be looser. Not adding solid colors in order to create a more organic, painterly feeling.

- After knowing all the colors I am going to need, I go in with some different layer blending modes to do a very basic shadow and light pass.

- Then with my lights and shadows blocked out, I begin rendering all aspects of the painting equally!
- I like to still use my line layer, almost as if it was the ambient occlusion of the objects.

- Rendering is when all the ideas start flowing in, for example:
- I felt like the bookshelf inside The Fairy’s shop was lacking items so I added a variety of potions, plants and even a small crown. Items she could have found and wanted to display!
